It's official. We're moving again sometime within the first 3 weeks of May. As much as I loathe moving, I'm rather excited as I feel that this will (hopefully) be the last move for a while. The neighborhood is one of my favorites in Columbus, and our house will be farther away from the noise and traffic we experience now being so close to the university. This new neighborhood seems to have a better blend of owned homes and small families, and our landlord seems to think we will love our neighbors.
Now packing, that's an issue in itself. With midterms coming up, and papers and projects due here in the near future, I feel like my plate is a bit too full. I have faith this will all work out okay and that we will really benefit in our quality of life.
Just thinking about packing makes me tired.
I am in the process of unpacking, and will load photos of my new place after I find the box with the transfer cable for my phone in it.
Overall the house is pretty nice. The bathroom and the kitchen are kind of gross, but considering who lived here before us, and how close we are to campus, I'd say it could have been much worse.
My bedroom has a door to the attic in it, which is fully floored, so a nice storage space. The bedroom also has a small nook/alcove type closet, so I can put my vanity in there instead of out in the room, taking up space.
I called to set up cable today, and tomorrow morning I will call and switch gas and electric into my name.
Orientation at "The Ohio State University" went well. I was so tired afterward I came home and took a three hour nap.
I am going to loose so much weight this winter, and not by trying. This campus is like the size of a small city. Parking fees are horrendous, so I will be commuting to campus on bike when it is nice, and riding the bus when it is icky. In fact, I'm not sure if I would even be allowed to have a car on campus this year. Some weird policy they have in place dealing with credit hours or something.
I have American History from 1887, History of Art Western Europe, and a French Lit class fall quarter. 15 credit hours.
I am excited. about everything.
Tonight is my last night in this house, and I've spent most of it just packing up little things and making sure stuff is in order. I still need to clear off the tops of furniture that we've been using. Unfortunately I've spent little time with my room mate, but it's not like I'm never going to see her again or that we won't be friends the second I don't live here anymore. I'm helping her move to Chicago, hopefully, very soon.
I feel anxious and excited at the same time. This move will be so good for me, and I am really looking forward to orientation on Wednesday, and Laura's 21st birthday on Thursday. Such a busy week ahead.
I feel unfinished. Like, I know tomorrow I will discover a million things I forgot to pack and I will freak out about something. Or, yeah, something.
I'm just fretting for no reason. I'm sure everything will be fine.
I am taking a break from packing to nibble on some chips because the rest of the food is already packed.
2 Days!!
That makes tomorrow 1 day.
I'm having that freak out moment.
At least I have friends who are going to come hang out with me while I unpack.
I've been packing for, maybe an hour, and I think I may have sweat out all of my body's water. Break Time
It's August, and in August, it is pretty much hot everywhere. Everyone east of the Rocky Mountains is experiencing nice 90 - 100 degree weather right now.
It's 94 here, but the heat index is 103.
I'm melting. I must be built for cold weather. I would do well in, oh, a climate farther north.
In any case, a recap to encourage me to get off the computer and start packing again.
Today I've packed :
Contents of the Vanity
Rolling carts full of body products and hair care
3 Shelf Bookcase
Tall 5 Shelf Bookcase
but most importantly, I'm throwing away/giving away lots of stuff I never use, so I won't have to take it with me. Yay!
Back to work...
The packing starts today. Hopefully I can get everything I am not immediately using into boxes today.
Kitchen first, bedroom second, bathroom third.
It's official, the landlord got back to me, and I am moving to Columbus, OH in 2 weeks.
I'll be attending The Ohio State University for International Studies & French. I have my orientation on campus on the 15th, so it looks like, if I can get movers for the date, I'll be moving in on the 14th. Then on the 16th, my best friend since I was twelve and my soon to be room mate Laura will be turning 21.
Oh so much crap will be packed into that week. Pardon the pun.
In any case, one great, amazing, awesome thing is that I finally got into the doctor on Monday, and the prescriptions she wrote me have made me feel 300% better. I feel almost normal.
Now I'm going to go be productive. I've already paid all the bills for this month, so I won't have to worry about late fees, and I should go start sorting shit in my room and the front room.
Packing. It's so much fun. I know sarcasm doesn't translate well in a written medium, but trust me on this one, it is there.
The moving started today. We got the front room of our house packed and unpacked into our new digs. We even moved a rather large bookcase and desk by ourselves(with the help of our good friend Adam). I am sick with the flu, as is my room mate, so I am extra proud of our efforts today. We've got some more packing to do in the dinning room and then on to the kitchen, but we both purged our rooms of excess shit, so hopefully packing those rooms will be less strenuous.
Now I'm avoiding doing school work by picking out my classes for winter quarter. In the line up:
GLG 142 (w/ lab)
BIS 160
SOC 205
and that leaves me one credit hour short of full time. It makes me want to smack myself in the head, repeatedly.
on the upside, I believe there is a bike in my near future. Thanks to my best friend Laura, who works at a bike shop. I love her. My winter riding plans are shaping up.
Oh, and I start my first day of work out of training tomorrow. Nervous? You bet'cha.
